Customer Rating: Summary: Immediate Positive Response Comment: Firstly I am trying to use the Litter Kwitter. My 5 month old kitten has never gone outside her box since I brought her home at 8 weeks. Over the last 2 weeks she has been using a small box that was on top of the closed toilet seat. As soon as LK arrived I replaced her box with the LK and removed her box. Ten minutes later she pooped on my bed. I got that cleaned up, striped the bed, sprayed everything down with enzymes, remade it, an hour later she peed on it when I went into the shower. Cleaned, sprayed, remade the bed with fresh sheets - waiting for the comforter --- many hours later --- I see 3 little wet spots at the foot -- then a puddle of pee on the floor. A day of cleaning, laundry and remaking the bed. FUN to say the least.
Even though I was frustrated, I tried not to let it show but I did ignore her a bit. I decided to not push the Litter Kwitter on her but wanted to keep it as an option. I put the LK on the floor next to her small spare box that had been on the toilet for 2 weeks - she immediately used her spare box. She used her spare over night and this morning.
I remembered seeing this product at my pet store so I went and got some today. I filled the Litter Kwitter with Cat Attract litter & put it back on the toilet. I left her other box on the floor. She is now only using the LK with cat attract and has used it 3 times, including a poop. So far so good with treats and love abound.
Now it could be that she is just using it because she wants to, or because she has an option or because I went out on a special trip for new litter or maybe it's because of that special chat where I told her I would prefer if she started using the Litter Kwitter but it is up to her --- I really can't say. What I can say is - she has options and she is choosing the new crazy Litter Kwitter with Cat Attract on the toilet over her old box with old litter on the floor.
I know is she was happy and then she was clearly not happy and then I made some changes - and so far no acting out. She is a great kitty - it made me feel awful that she was upset and felt the need to act out.
So hopefully I can find the additive instead and proceed slowly through toilet training with the help of cat attract.
Customer Rating: Summary: 100% Litter Box Usage as advertised, but a bit odiferous Comment: Right after we moved into a new house, Nikita started peeing in the living room nearly 100% of the time. I tried all sorts of devices to keep her out of that room, but nothing helped. I bought a bag of Cat Attract litter, and I had 100% litter box usage immediately. It was pretty amazing. A few days later I took her to the vet, and sure enough, she had a urinary tract infection. So it wasn't her fault. Still, the Cat Attract litter worked, even with a sick cat. She's better now :)
I continued to use the rest of that bag, and another, but the smell and the stickiness really turned me off. When it's wet it's like Play-Doh, and it even causes my LitterMaid box to hang up and reverse itself. It also smells a _lot_ worse than TWBCL. With TWBCL there's almost no smell at all, which is why I'm OK with the litterbox in the family room (behind the wet bar, which we never use).
So a few months ago I switched back to TWBCL. Everything had been fine since, and then last week she peed in the living room again. If she does it again I'm taking her back into the vet.
If she's not sick, and she still pees inappropriately, I'm going to try the Cat Attract Additive instead of the clay litter.
Customer Rating: Summary: Cats won't touch it Comment: I have 2 2 yo males neutered cats who have never used the litter box consistently for pooping. I have tried nearly every type of litter, litter box, self-cleaning or basic plastic box, lid, no lid, etc. Desperate, I bought this product with great hopes--along with two more litter boxes and a box of Arm and Hammer clumping litter.
They now have 4 boxes with 3 different litters. Yet the only litter they have *never* used for relieving themselves is "Cat Attract." Yes, they have been inside the box, evidenced by the litter being moved around. But they have never done their business there and continue to poop on the floor next to it. In fact, they will occasionally use the new Arm & Hammer litter, similar in texture to Cat Attract, but not the product in question.
Like the other reviewer indicated, it is nice litter otherwise, so I gave it 2 stars. But don't assume this litter will be your cure-all for behavioral problems. HTH a little. Good luck.
Customer Rating: Summary: Didn't work for me cat! Comment: This product, even when used with Ensley's cat attactant (chopped cat nip??) absolutely did not work for my cat. He continued to use the floor and even avoided the box more than before!
Customer Rating: Summary: Beware--Once you "Attract" You Can't Go Back Comment: This product definitely works...in fact, it works so well that my cat seems to refuse to use any other brand now. This is not necessarily very good news, as it is VERY expensive! The 20 pound bag only seems good for about 2 uses--and its $20 per bag...that's $40 per month for one small siamese cat. The litter gets used up FAST because it really seems to "extreme clump"....meaning, my cat pees once and it clumps so much that when I scoop it out, half the litter is gone. I'm now trying out new things and I'll let you know how they work out. The other complaint I have is that it seems messier than other litters I've tried...lots of little white grains all over our kitchen floor...and this is with a large and deep cat pan. :-(
Nov. 8, 2008: Well, we tried some other brands and she basically told us what she thought by leaving gifts on the floor. So it's back to champagne days and caviar catbox nights...
